With less than 30 mins to go until the polls close in the historic Brexit vote reports of the amount of people showing up at polling stations in the Foyle constituency are varying slightly -but theconsensus appears to be that turnout has been low despite the good weather conditions throughout the day.
The Electoral Office are confident that the count in Foyle will be amongst the first returned in Northern Ireland.
Count staff are in place at the city’s Foyle arena where the count for East Derry will also take place.
There are eight count centres in total in operation to tally the votes in a referendum which will decide whether or not the UK ‘leaves’ or ‘remains’ within the European Union which it joined on January 1, 1973.
The ‘Journal’ is at the count centre ands will update www.derryjournal.com and the ‘Journal’ facebook as news filters through from the local count.
