Derry’s Chamber of Commerce and the City Centre Initiative have launched the ‘2014 Derry-Londonderry Business Awards’.

The usual categories have been added to this year with a new gong for ‘Best Use of Digital and/or Social Media’ up for grabs.

The awards - sponsored by the Bank of Ireland - are in their ninth year and are now firmly established as one of the highlight events of the city’s business calendar.

They attract high profile industry support and involvement, offering Derry’s businesses the opportunity to promote major achievements and celebrate success.

Sinead McLaughlin, Chief Executive of the Chamber of Commerce, said: “It is of paramount importance that we continue to recognise, encourage and reward those people who are working so hard to create wealth and jobs in this region. We are seeking a high number of applicants for each category and we would encourage businesses to see this as an opportunity to celebrate their successes, acknowledge their team’s effort, measure their performance and to create positive PR by differentiating their business.”

Jim Roddy, Chief Executive of City Centre Initiative, added: “The Awards Ceremony will recognise forward-looking, innovative businesses and individuals who have demonstrated a high level of commitment and determination to drive their businesses forward. As the UK City of Culture, we are intent is celebrating our businesses and individuals that have contributed to the success of City by providing excellent business services.”

The awards ceremony will take place on Friday, June 13, 2014 at The City Hotel.
