A Derry based computer games company has bagged a new deal that will allow it to break into the German speaking market.

Based at Northside Enterprise Centre, independent games developer Dark Water Studios has enjoyed continuing success since launching DogFighter, a next generation flight simulation game, last year.

Now with more than 130,000 players, the Derry games company has announced a new deal that will see the game launched in the German speaking market.

The deal with Berlin-based games publisher Just A Game (JAG) will see the game released in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Lee Fallon, Head of Business Development at Dark Water, says the deal reflects the demand for the game in the marketplace.

“The fact that we have signed this deal with JAG is a strong show of support that the games we create are what the market wants right now. This is very encouraging news.”

Sean McCafferty, Design Lead at Dark Water Studios says the game “adrenalises the standard aerial-combat game.”

“A DogFighter pilot is a thrill seeker, a crack shot; someone that wants the thrill of the hunt with none of the tail-chasing hang-ups usually found in aerial combat games.”
