Derry City Council is to work with First Housing to tackle a rat infestation in the Glenabbey estate.

Sinn Féin representative Sandra Duffy welcomed the move and said developers will also be involved.

‘I understand that rodents can be a problem in any building development, but with the majority of these properties now occupied and the health implications of this I am glad to state that after negotiations from Sinn Féin, Fold Housing, Derry City Council and the Developers have agreed to jointly address this problem,” Ms Duffy said.

“Pest control is generally the responsibility of the tenant but as this is a widespread issue throughout the estate the three agencies have agreed to work together to address it,” added.
