Local tourism body Visit Derry have launched a new digital initiative aimed at connecting tourists to the city like never before.
The ‘@AskVisitDerry’ has been launched on Twitter as a platform for Visit Derry’s Visitor Information Centre to connect with visitors prior, during and after their visit to the city.
The aim is to use the platform of social media to connect with visitors and tourists in an easily accessible and convenient format and to act as an online concierge to help tourists with their travel enquiries.
The Visitor Information staff will be responding to enquiries and providing helpful advice.
Catherine Crawley from Visit Derry said: “We are delighted to be selected by Tourism NI to run this pilot project, the first of its kind in any Visitor Information Centre in Northern Ireland.
“Visitors’ expectations have grown in recent years due to the increased use of social media- they expect real-time responses and are using tools such as Twitter as an online concierge service.”
