Around 60 workers at a Derry medical packaging company have been told they will only work two days next week.
The affected staff at Perfecseal in Campsie were told last week that they will only work two days during the first week in November.
Director of European Operations at Perfecseal Limited Keith McCracken says the adjustment to working hours is a consequence of both general economic conditions and a drop in demand.
“We are in a challenging time economically and as a consequence 60 people will not come to work for three days next week.”
He says there are no plans to cut working hours beyond next week
“We have identified the medical device market as an area of key growth and plan to continue to invest in this area.”
Perfecseal, part of the Bemis group of companies, currently employs around 240 staff in Derry.
