A local MLA has backed a European Union move to tackle cross border mobile phone charges.
Foyle Assembly member Raymond McCartney said moves by Poland, the current EU presidency holders, could help businesses in the north west if implemented.
“Coming from a border county, I know the extreme challenges faced by individuals and businesses in both Donegal and Derry in carrying out electronic services transactions.
“The border continues to create financial inconveniences for families and restricts businesses. It is important that we support any efforts being made that will reduce inhibitors to normal financial and electronic services, including mobile phones and internet provision.”
