An American company is to create almost 300 new jobs in Derry.

Texas-based OneSource Virtual - which operates in the HR outsourcing industry - is currently looking for a base on the city’s west bank.

The firm is hoping to have all 289 jobs in place by September 2017.

It’s understood most employees with OneSource Virtual will have the potential to earn £36,000 per year.

Derry secured the jobs after beating off stiff competition from eight cities across Ireland, Britain and Europe.

OneSource already employs 600 people in Texas.

It’s understood the new jobs will be across a range of roles including deployment, application management services and payroll services.

When fully operational, it’s estimated the new business will contribute nearly £12 million in salaries to the economy annually.

OneSource Virtual co-founder and chief executive Brian Williams says he’s “excited” by the firm’s first European venture.

“We will be looking for technology graduates with three to five years experience who possess strong verbal skills and thrive in a fast paced environment, as well as experienced UK payroll professionals.”

Invest NI offered £2.9 million towards the new jobs and training.
