Call for action after '˜dangerous' leak in Greysteel

A Sinn Fein councillor is calling for action after the third occurrence in a month of what he's described as a 'dangerous' leak on the main road through Greysteel.

Colr. Dermot Nicholl now wants to meet with NI Water about the matter after the incident, which he said caused lengthy tailbacks into the village from the Derry direction on Monday evening.

“The leak has occured for the third time in less than a month on Monday evening,” he said.

“On the previous occasions I contacted NI Water, and I would like to thank them for their speedy response to the issue.

“However, it is a recurring issue and the danger it poses will only increase as we head into winter.

“When there is alot of water covering the road it is causing motorists to slow down quite considerably which is leading to substantial tailbacks in the village.”
