Independent Derry-Strabane Councillor Dee Quigley has called for the ‘Time 2Choose’ project in Rosemount to be replicated in the Ballyarnett ward.

Colr. Quigley, who represents the greater Galliagh and Shantallow areas, said that the good work being carried out in Rosemount couldand should be expanded into other areas.

Time2Choose aims to address the risk to the lives of young people through education, protection, prevention and intervention.

Issues tackled include anti-social behaviour, drug and alcohol use and misuse.

Young people engaged by Time2Choose include those under paramiltary threat.

Colr. Quigley said: “Given the good work carried out by the Rosemount Resource Centre’s ‘Time2Choose’ project, which deals with threats from paramilitary groups, the same is needed in the Shantallow area in order to deal with paramilitary-related actions before someone is badly injured or killed.”
