Car found abandoned in Creggan

The car, which was abandoned near the roundabout at the top of Eastway Road, was first reported to Sinn Fein Councillor, Kevin Campbell, by local residents.

“I got a phone call from a local resident to say a car had been abandoned at the roundabout,” said Colr. Campbell.

“This is a very busy route into Creggan and it was causing traffic disruption into the area.”

Colr. Campbell added: “I spoke with the PSNI and Derry City and Strabane District Council to get the car removed as quickly as possible as there was a fear it could be set on fire.

“With children off school there is always a fear that these situations could escalate. Thankfully that didn’t happen and the car was removed.”
