The Roe Valley Arts & Cultural Centre/Ionad Ealaíon agus Cultúir Ghleann na Ró welcomes home internationally acclaimed singer and Dungiven native, Cara Dillon on Saturday 7 May, at 8pm.
Born in Dungiven in 1975, Cara was raised in a close musical family and her musical talent shone through when she began winning awards at a young age. Progressing through folk bands Óige, De Dannan and Equation, she has been hailed as one of Ireland’s greatest singers.
Her ongoing musical collaboration with husband Seth Lakeman carves new life into ancient material and has produced three critically acclaimed solo albums, including the astoundingly beautiful Hill of Thieves, which scooped the Folk Album of the Year title at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards in 2010.
Cara will be supported on the evening by talented Derry-born musician Eilidh Patterson. Eilidh has been busy making a huge name for herself and performing alongside the likes of Beth Nielsen Chapman as well as regularly recording in Nashville, producing her debut album When the Time Comes.
Desima Connolly, Arts & Cultural Services Officer, comments: “What a fantastic evening we have in store with a sublime performance by our very own Cara Dillon, showcasing local talent at its very best, and featuring the very talented Eilidh Patterson. It is an event which really honours a supremely gifted local artist who belongs to the Borough so please come along and join us in a bit of showing off!”
Tickets cost £15 full and £13 concession and are available from the Box Office on Tel: 028 7776 0650.
