Two Derry projects have recieved a funding boost from the National Lottery.
Have Your Tomorrows (HURT), which provides support services to those afflicted from substance and alcohol misuse; have been awarded almost £500,000.
Rainbow Health Limited, which works to improve the physical, mental and emotional health of gay and bisexual men, was awarded £155,737 to run educational courses and personal development programmes for young people.
Junior Minister Martina Anderson welcomed the funding for the Derry projects.
“The announcement from the Big Lottery Fund will mean a big difference to Derry. The work of this sector is vital. Often they are the unsung heroes. They not only help individuals but also local communities, making where we live a better place, striving to make a better future for us all,” the Sinn Fein minister says.
“I am delighted that these two very worthwhile causes have received this funding. They both provide vital services for the people of Derry and beyond.
“I know of the many problems faced by both organisations and the positive contributions they have made to the people of the North West. Their work has helped countless people in the past and I am relieved that this funding will help secure their future.”
