Charity Cystic Fibrosis walk in memory of Dee Canning

A table will be set up in Guildhall Square all day tomorrow (Saturday 27 August) taking registrations for a charity walk for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust - registration fee £5!

The event itself will take place on Saturday, September 10, and local people are urged to come along and show their support.

The walk has been organised by the family of Derry man Damian Canning, who had his life cut short by Cystic Fibrosis (CF) aged just 25 in December 2007.

The walk will leave Sainsbury’s car park at 1pm on Saturday, September 10, and encompass the Peace Bridge and the Foyle Bridge.

Energise Gym on Strand Road are sponsoring the event and a raffle on the day will offer amazing prizes like a six-week Empowerment Course and a personalised work out plan and nutritional advice. As well as that, anyone participating in the walk will get a free one-day pass to Energise Gym.

Don’t worry if you miss tomorrow’s registration - anyone interested in taking part can turn up an hour before the walk and register on the day.

Registration costs £5 and all money will go directly to the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, who provide funding for vital medical research to lengthen the lives of those with CF.

If you knew Damian personally, or indeed if you just want to help raise money for this crucially important charity, come along to Sainsbury’s car park at 1pm on Saturday, September 10. Light refreshments will be provided. ‘Help us see off CF,’ an organiser urged.
