The organisers of a charity fire walk in aid of the local Alzheimer’s Society have appealed for volunteers to sign up for the challenge.
The fire walk and a family fun day will take place at the Village Inn car park in Rosemount on Friday, June 29 at 8.30pm.
Patsy Edgar, one of the organisers, is calling on people who think they can ‘walk the walk’ in aid of Alzheimer’s to put their best foot forward.
He said: “The Alzheimer’s Society is one of the leading support and research charities for people with dementia, supporting their families and carers. Nearly 1m people suffer with dementia and that number is rising yearly.
“The Alzheimer’s Society and its members work to improve the quality of life of people affected by dementia. Members have experience in the work of dementia as carers, health professionals and people with dementia themselves.
“So please don’t get cold feet, hot foot it and come along and take part.”
Mr Edgar says the organaisers are hoping between 30 and 50 people will sign up for the fire walk and are also hoping for support from the local business community.
Anyone who thinks they can ‘walk the walk’ - albeit a hot one - is asked to call Aisling on 07737520910; Patsy on 07546877767/Seven Oaks on 02871 348887; or call into the Village Inn.
