Clean-up underway at Derry primary school
The PSNI in the city has appealed for any witnesses to the incident to come forward.
Police say they attended the scene in the heart of Creggan estate at around 9.25pm having received reports that part of the premises was on fire. The siurce of the blaze was on the roof of a classroom in the building.

Hide AdSeveral fire appliances attended the scene and extinguished the fire-finally bringing it under control around midnight.
Damage was caused to scaffolding and building materials as a result of the fire. Some damage was also caused to the school as a result of the incident.
Inspector David Anderson is appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone who has any information that can assist with the investigation to contact officers in Strand Road on 101. Or, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.
Meanwhile, Sinn Fein MLA Maeve McLaughlin has tweeted an image of people in the area helping to clean the damage caused by the fire and praised the community effort involved.
