The date has been confirmed, the tickets have been sold and the line-up has been revealed, all that’s left is for someone to look after the weather.
The climate in Derry is as predictable as the Euro Millions Lotto results but that won’t stop 13,000 music fans piling into Ebrington Square on Saturday August 15.
On Friday, the Club MTV line-up was revealed.
The concert will be headlined by Australian twins and DJs, Nervo; Swedish electronic music duo, Galantis; British DJ Philip George; David Zowie; Club MTV resident DJs Varski and R3wire and local talent.
Here’s some information on the acts who will be playing.
Australian twin sisters, Miriam and Olivia Nervo, started NERVO in 2005 and since then they have gone on to work with and write for Britney Spears, Kylie Minogue, Nicole Scherzinger and David Guetta.
Miriam and Olivia are 28 years-old but before entering into the music industry they worked as models for the Australian Chadwick Models Agency and they were ambassadors at the L’Oreal Fashion Festival in 2010.
The sisters are currently signed to Fredrik Olsson’s Swedish music publishing company Razor Boy Music Publishing and the co-wrote the Grammy Award-winning single, ‘When Love Takes Over’, which was performed by David Guetta and Kelly Rowland.
NERVO have played at music festivals all over the world including Creamfields with Fatboy Slim and on tour with Britney Spears and Nicki Minaj.
Galantis is a Swedish electronic music production and song writing duo consisting of Christian ‘Bloodshy’ Karlsson of Miike Snow, and Linus Eklöw aka Style of Eye. They are best known for their 2014 hit single ‘Runaway (U & I)’.
Galantis formed in 2012 and they style of music is best described as electro house.
Christian ‘Bloodshy’ Karlsson wrote Britney Spears’ hit track ‘Toxic’ and has co-wrote and co-produced music for artists such as such as Katy Perry, Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, Kylie Minogue and Madonna.
Linus Eklöw, otherwise known as established electronic dance music producer Style of Eye, co-wrote and produced Icona Pop’s international No. 1 smash ‘I Love It’ ft. Charli XCX.
Galantis released their debut album ‘Pharmacy’ earlier this month and earlier this year they were named Best Breakthrough Artist at the 30th International Dance Music Awards.
Nottingham born DJ, Philip George, emerged on to the scene in 2014 and the highlight of his career to date is reaching No. 2 in the UK Singles Chart with his track ‘Wish You Were Mine’.
British DJ, David Zowie, will release his single ‘House Every Weekend’ next month and it is being tipped as one of the summer’s biggest hits.
VARSKI and R3WIRE
This will not be the first time Varski will have played Derry. He took to the stage during MTV Crashes Derry last year. Varski’s trademark was that he would wear black and white face paint whilst performing on stage but according to his profile on Twitter he no longer sports face paint, instead he “sports a face”. Varski is from Leicester.
Like Varski, R3wire is a Club MTV resident DJ and both artists usually perform on stage together. R3wire is also a producer and whilst he plays the music, Varski performs as a front man. Varski and R3wire have performed countless Ministry of Sound UK and International concerts in places such as Hong Kong and Estonia. R3wire and Varksi’s best known track is ‘When the Bass Goes!’.
Club MTV in Ebrington has been organised by local events company Legacy Promotions Iona Ltd.
Tickets for Derry’s Club MTV event are still available and cost £24.50. To purchase tickets visit Ticketmaster.
