Four members of a County Derry family are celebrating after each of them won a place on the podium at the WKU World Championships in America.

Rob Monteith, siblings Chloe Hope, David Hope and Corey Monteith from outside Ballykelly - members of Titans Kickboxing Club in Limavady - competed in Orlando last month. Corey won the WKU World Championship bronze medal for the -30kgs. Under 12 years; the youngest in the section. Chloe won the WKU World Championship bronze medal for 13-17 years, while Rob won the WKU World Championship bronze medal in the -80 kgs executives section. David became the New WKU World champion in points fighting and also scooped the silver medal in light contact fighting.

Mum Sabrina, who was with the family, said it was “so emotional, and I am so proud of them.”

Rob said: “It was such a proud moment for me, and getting to have Sabrina and the kids there was the best feeling ever. I was in David’s corner too when he won the gold and it was very overwhelming to experience that with him.”

Corey, Chloe and David loved every minute on the world stage, especially Chloe who missed out on the German Open in June when she broke her leg. The family thanked Seating Matters, Canning and Coyle Construction and Rooms Bespoke Furniture for financing the trip and trainers Willie Lowry, Mark McGonigal and Liam McLaughlin for their dedicated support.
