Community carol seervice

The 5th annual Ecumenical Carol Service takes place in the Church of the Sacred Heart, Carndonagh tonight at 8pm. Come and celebrate the start of the festive season with a feast of Christmas music, old and new, including congregational carols, led by the Donagh Church Choir conducted by Helen Haughey with Mike Doherty, organist. Guests include Danielle Cavanagh, Joseph Deery, Maeve Ward the Carndonagh Folk Group, and the Carndonagh Children’s Choir (made up of children from the schools of the parish). Now in its fifteenth year, this carol service marks the real start of Christmas for many. Come and hear carols and seasonal music in the beautiful surroundings of the Church of the Sacred Heart, which will be specially lit for the occasion by Ambient Event lighting. This is a great opportunity to get the festive season off to a musical start. The service starts at 8pm; all welcome. A collection will be taken up for local charities. Carn Drama Club will be having a charity performance of “Many Young Men of Twenty” on Sunday 11th January at 8.30pm.

Inishowen Rugby club will hold its annual Boxing Day charity game at the Carndonagh Communtiy School pitch (behind the school) with kick off at 2.30pm. Proceeds will go to a fund to help purchase a bus for the children of James Connolly Hospital at their current bus is deemed un road worthy. Please come along and support this very worthy cause.

Carrowmenagh Community Centre is holding its annual Christmas Concert on Sunday 28th December at 8pm. All welcome.

Are you interested in ladies basic DIY or Computers. Inishowen Women’s Information Network is looking for ladies who want to take part in basic DIY classes starting in January 2015. Whist Drive will take place in the Colgan Hall on Sunday, 18th January at 2.30pm in aid of St Brigids National School. Tea and refreshments will be served. Draw for extra tickets. Tickets only €5. All welcome.

A Charity Dance will take place on Sunday, 28th December in the Strand Hotel Ballyliffen in aid of a new wheelchair access bus for the James Connolly Hospital. Music by Charlie’s Country Kitchen. Dancing 10pm-2am and admission with a light buffet served is €10, payable at the door.

Cost per child €5 all proceeds in aid of the 8th Donegal Scouts, Carndonagh. All Under 7s must be accompanied by an adult. Tuck shop inside.

Carndoanagh Christmas Tree Fundraising Committee will hold a “Night of the Races” (with a difference) in Tullys Bar on Saturday 28th December. There will be music on Wednesday 31st for the countdown and to welcome the new year.

Naiscoil Dhomhach Og would like to thank everyone who helped with their recent move to Bridgetown Park, especially Eddie Doherty and Michael Harkin. We will be having a official opening after Christmas. We are currently taking names for part time places starting after Christmas and enrolments for freee ECCE places for September 2015. Once again we would like to thank the community for their continued support since the Naidcoil first opened in 1997.
