The crazy '˜Circus of Horrors' is in town

Rising to prominent fame after they appeared on the popular television show Britain’s Got Talent, the circus performers with a twist put on a show unlike no other.

With acrobatics combined with sword swallowers, fire eaters and knife throwers, it’s not a circus show where you can expect to see a clown!

The founder, Dr Haze, says the idea was born out of boredom for the traditional circus in which he was raised.

“I started learning to fire-eat when I was 11. My dad had disappeared when I was a very young baby and re-appeared at that time, persuading my mother to join him as an act in a circus in Ireland.

“He had told them that we could all perform as fire-eaters so I had to learn the act very quickly. We toured with them for six or seven years, but as I grew older I was disillusioned and set off on my own to start a rock ‘n’ roll band.”

This foray into the music industry is now evident in the Circus of Horrors show, as the circus acts are performed to a backdrop of live rock music which is tightly choreographed with the performance in mind.

Dr Haze describes the show as ‘things you would not normally see anywhere else, and as acts ‘you really shouldn’t try at home’!

Set in Victorian London in 1899, the story twists and turns with grisly murders and sensational shocks – all interwoven with some of the greatest and most bizarre circus acts on earth.

It has also been dubbed as only suitable for adults but Dr Haze explains, “It is set as adults only, but children over the age of 13 accompanied by an adult are welcome.

“There are bits of nudity and swearing but it’s not the bulk of the show - and it’s tongue-in-cheek.

“We were on national television in BGT and we weren’t censored before the watershed - it’s a fun show with plenty to catch your eye.”
