A 22-year-old man who was abusive to police after reporting he had been assaulted has been fined £120.
Niall Anthony Patrick Waterkamp, of Strand Foyer, pleaded guilty to disorderly behaviour on April 27.
Derry Court heard that Waterkamp phoned police to the Sackville Street area, claiming he had been assaulted by a taxi man. He became verbally abusive and refused requests to calm down. Defence solicitor Paddy MacDermott said his client “was annoyed that police were not taking his claim seriously”.
