Accused of assault and possessing a crowbar

A 21-year-old man has appeared in court accused off possessing a crowbar.

John Meehan, whose address was given as Northland Road, is further charged with common assault.

The charges relate to two alleged incidents on September 9 and September 11.

An investigating officer told Derry Magistrate’s Court he believed he could connect the defendant to the charges.

There was no objection to Meehan being released on bail.

He was released on his own bail of £500 and banned from consuming alcohol.

The 21-year-old was also banned from entering the Waterside and from having any contact with the alleged injured party.

Meehan will appear in court again on October 15.
