A man accused of stealing an iron, curtains and a power washer has been banned from any store which sells electrical items or household goods.
Mark O’Neill, of Goshaden Cottages, is further charged with fraud by false representation and driving offences between September 2 and November 10.
Derry Magistrates Court heard allegations the 37-year-old stole items from shops in Crescent Link Retail Park worth almost £400. He also allegedly tried to get a cash refund on one of them.
O’Neill was released on police bail in relation to these thefts. However, he was arrested at the weekend for breaching these conditions when he was allegedly caught drink driving.
Police opposed a bail application because they fear O’Neill would breach conditions or commit further offences.
District Judge Barney McElholm gave O’Neill a chance and released him on his bail of £500. However, he banned the 37-year-old from consuming alcohol and from entering electronic or household shops. He will appear in court again on November 28.
