Admits homeless shelter arson

A 33-year-old man has admitted setting a fire in a local homeless shelter.

Simon Watson, of Dunmore Gardens, pleaded guilty to arson on August 17.

Two other charges of possessing an offensive weapon and criminal damage were withdrawn by the Public Prosecution Service.

It is alleged Watson destroyed a pillow case, a duvet and a door owned by the Methodist Mission during the incident.

Sentencing was adjourned for a probation pre-sentence report to be compiled.

Watson was released on continuing bail to appear in court again on November 20.
