Two youths armed with iron bars went on a wrecking spree as they tried to rob a shop in Carnhill last night.
Detectives at Strand Road in Derry have now launched an appeal for information about the attempted robbery of the mobile shop.
Detective Inspector David McQuade said: “At around 8pm on Monday 2nd, two youths carrying iron bars entered the shop and demanded money from staff members.
“They are not thought to have received any, but wrecked the shelves.
“They split up after the incident, with one heading towards Carnhill to the green area at the rear of the College, and the other making for Collon Lane towards Slievemore.”
