The Derry man who escaped from police custody at Derry courthouse two days before Christmas is now back behind bars - having been remanded in custody at this morning’s sitting of Derry Magistrate’s court.
Dean Beattie, 22, of Glenowen Park appeared in court on the back of a bench warrant issued on December 23 - when he escaped from police custody by jumping over the fence at the Bishop Street courthouse.
In addition to the charges he originally faced, Beattie now faces two additional charges. The first is that he escaped the lawful custody of the PSNI and the second that he intimidated a person on December 28.
No application for bail was made.
Beattie will appear again via videolink on January 21.
