Derry Court: Man accused of rape remanded back into custody


A man accused of rape, who was released on high court bail last week has been remanded back into custody.

Michael Carlin, whose address was given on court papers as Amelia Court, faces a total of 43 charges.

They include rape, sexual assault and possession of a firearm.

The 23-year-old is also charged with attempted hijacking and aggravated burglary.

All the offences were allegedly committed on November 18 in the Galliagh and Shantallow areas of the city.

Derry Magistrates Court heard that Carlin handed himself into police last night and indicated that he wanted his bail revoked.

It was also revealed his landlord had withdrawn the bail address.

Carlin was remanded in custody to appear in court again via video link on February 5.
