Derry duo accused of stealing council street sign

Two men have appeared in court accused of stealing a street sign belonging to Derry City Council.

Kieran Michael Bradley, (38) of Lower Nassau Street, and 18-year-old Ciaran McConnell, of Rosemount Gardens, are further charged with going equipped for theft on May 7.

It is alleged they were in possession of a chisel, hammer and a shovel at the time of the alleged offence.

During a brief hearing at Derry Magistrate’s Court, both men spoke only to confirm they understood the charges against them.

An investigating officer said he believed he could connect both defendants to the charges.

They will appear in court again on September 12.
