Derry hijack - man injured

A man is being treated for a suspected fractured cheekbone after his van was hijacked in Derry.

Detectives are appealing for information following the hijacking in the De Burgh Terrace area Derry this morning.

Shortly after 10am it was reported that two males approached a man in the area and assaulted him before driving off in his Peugeot Partner Van. The man was taken to hospital for treatment for a suspected broken cheek bone following the incident.

The van was involved in a road traffic collision on the Groarty Road a short time later and set on fire. Two males, both aged 20, have been arrested in relation to these incidents and are both in custody assisting police with their enquiries.
