Derry hijacking: police hunt two men

Police in Derry are hunting two men - one allegedly armed with a knife - who hijacked a car in the Waterside.

Detectives are appealing for information following the report of a car being hijacked in the Prehen Road area in the early hours of Sunday 28th December.

Investigating officer, Detective Constable Richard Donnell said, “At around 5am, two men stood in the road in front of a silver Citroen C4 car forcing the driver to stop. The male driver was told to get out of the car and the two men made off in it. The men wore dark clothing with hoods up and one was reportedly armed with a knife. The driver was not injured but was left badly shaken following the incident.

“I am appealing for anyone who witnessed this incident or who has any information which may be of assistance to police to contact CID at Strand Road on 101. Information can also be given anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
