Derry shooting: police appeal for information

A man has been shot in the leg in Derry.

Detectives are appealing for information following a paramilitary style shooting that occurred in the Corrib Court area of Derry on the evening of Saturday 1 November.

A PSNI spokesman said: “At approximately 11.40pm, police received a report that a 42 year old man had been shot in the left leg by a man that is described as being approximately 6ft tall and was wearing a balaclava and dark clothing. The 42 year old man was taken to hospital for treatment to his injury which is not believed to be life threatening.

“I would appeal to anyone that noticed any suspicious activity in the area around 11pm to contact CID in Strand Road Police Station on the non emergency number 101. Or if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can conntact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
