A man who had ‘a few beer’ with a friend was found to be over the legal limit when police stopped him for a defective tyre Derry Magistrate’s Court heard today.
Jason Hasson (24) of 27, Shanreagh Park in Derry admitted the offence which occurred on September 23 last.
The court was told that police stopped a vehicle driven by Hasson who was found to have a defective tyre.
As police were issuing the paperwork they noticed a smell of alcohol and when tested Hasson was found to be 32 mgs over the limit.
Defence solicitor Mr. Seamus Quigley said his client had a job as a delivery driver but that was now gone.
He said a friend had asked him in a for a few beers and Hasson had felt he was okay to drive.
Hasson was disqualified from driving for 12 months and fined £125.
