A 19 year old teenager has been disqualified from driving after appearing at Derry Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
Peter Toland of Bloomfield Park faced a total of 11 charges all relating to an incident at Alder Road on October 27 last year.
Toland pleaded guilty to eight charges, namely dangerous driving, aggravated vehicle taking, driving without insurance, failure to report an accident, failure to remain at the scene, failing to provide details of the driver to police, not holding a full driving licence, driving unaccompanied and failure to display ‘L’ plates.
Two further charges of handling stolen goods and criminal damage were withdrawn by the Prosecution Service.
The case was adjourned to December 13 to allow a pre-sentence report to be compiled, but District Judge Barney McElholm agreed to a request from Steven Mooney, counsel for Toland, for the mandatory driving disqualification which will be imposed, to take effect from Wednesday.
