Fined £600 for kicking door at ex-partner’s home

A man who kicked the door of his ex-partner’s home has been fined £600 at the local Magistrate’s Court.

David Ashcomb, of The Fountain, pleaded guilty to making a threat to damage the woman’s house on August 21 last year.

Derry Magistrate’s Court heard police were called after the 28-year-old arrived home drunk and began kicking the door. Ashcomb only left the area when the woman threatened to phone the police and he was arrested later the same day.

During interview, Ashcomb admitted having an argument with the woman but denied making any threats.

Defence counsel Stephen Chapman said his client has no previous convictions and there was no domestic violence history in the relationship.
