A woman was forced to steal almost £300 worth of razor blades by her son, a court has heard.
Brenda Reddy, of Clooney Mews, pleaded guilty to stealing £289 worth of razor blades from Boots on June 20.
She also admitted going equipped for theft with three pair of scissors and a bag.
Derry Magistrates Court heard that the 44-year-old’s son is a ‘controlling and domineering individual’ who put his mother in a ‘difficult position’.
District Judge Barney McElholm accepted that Reddy committed the offences under duress.
He ordered her to complete a six month probation order.
Reddy’s son 24-year-old Declan Kinsella, also of Clooney Mews, will be sentenced for the offences on September 12.
