Gates needed to stop problems at Epworth Street

Residents in Rosemount have called for gates to be erected in their area to help reduce anti-social behaviour.

People living in Epworth Street have said some young people using the area as a shortcut at weekends are damaging cars and homes and abusing local residents.

One resident, Robin Jack, said people in Epworth Street are being “plagued” every weekend. “It happens every weekend but it seems to get worse in the long evenings,” he said. “I have had both wing mirrors kicked off my car and the same thing has happened to many of the other cars in the street.

Foyle Sinn Féin MLA Maeve McLaughlin said she has been lobbying on behalf of local residents.

“I have spoken to the Outer West Community Safety Forum and the PSNI about this and the police are looking at costings for the erection of gates.”
