Girl sexually assaulted in Derry

A teenage girl was subjected to a sexual assault as she walked through the Glen area of Derry on Friday night, it has been confirmed.

Details of the girl’s terrifying ordeal were just emerging this morning as police launched a public appeal to help them hunt down her attacker.

The incident happened in the Glen Road area.

The girl managed to flee from the man before raising the alarm.

A PSNI spokesman from Strand Road station confirmed today: “At about 11.30pm on Friday, 18th, the girl was walking at Glen Road when she was sexually assaulted by a man before she managed to get away.

“The man is described as being about 5ft 9ins tall and of a medium build. He was wearing a dark coat.”
