Twin brothers and a family friend who beat up two boys aged 16 and 17, have been remanded in custody after appearing at Letterkenny Circuit Court.
Chris and Gary Duffy 31, along with John Joe McLaughlin, 43, all of Drishternan, Gleneely, pleaded guilty to assaulting Bradley Beattie and Jonathan Moran on April 5, 2010 in Gleneely.
Detective Garda Siobhan Tighe said they received a call that a group from Belfast were involved in a fight with some local people and there was a number of altercations going on when they arrived.
The two youths made statements the next day saying the had been kicked and punched by the three defendants.
The Duffy brothers could be identified on CCTV while McLaughlin, the court was told, could be observed kicking one of the victims on the ground.
More than 100 witnesses were interviewed in the investigation.
The row is believed to have emanated from an incident at a wedding two years earlier.
All three defendants worked in the UK and there had been a lot of alcohol consumed on the night of the altercation.
Judge John O’Hagan said it was a very serious case.
“You are three grown men and you set upon two children and beat the lard out of them,” he said.
He remanded the three defendants into custody to July 29 for sentencing.
