A man who was found on the grounds of Altnagelvin Hospital with a monkey wrench has received a suspended sentence.
David Albert Baranowski, of Sperrin Park, pleaded guilty to common assault, possession of an offensive weapon and disorderly behaviour.
The charges relate to an incident in the grounds of the hospital in August last year.
Sentencing had been deferred to see if the 23-year-old could stay out of trouble.
Defence counsel Nicola Rountree told the court her client was not at the hospital to ‘create havoc and chaos’ but there to challenge his father who works there.
District Judge Barney McElholm suspended a five month jail term for two years.
