Two men have appeared in court accused of hijacking a car and leaving the owner with a fractured cheekbone.

Ryan McGlinchey, of Benview Terrace, Coshquin and Vincent Connor Gill, of Sackville Court, both aged 20, are jointly charged with a total of 18 offences.

They include causing grievous bodily harm with intent to Thomas Agnew, who sustained a fractured cheekbone in the alleged incident in De Burgh Terrace on March 9.

The other charges are hijacking, robbery, theft of a vehicle and arson, as well as a number of motoring offences.

McGlinchey and Gill are also accused of assaulting a female member of Christ Church choir and attempting to hijack her car 15 minutes before the alleged incident in De Burgh Terrace.

Both men deny the charges.

There was no application for bail and both men were remanded in custody until March 27.
