A Limavady man who assaulted a woman before urinating over her boyfriend’s car has been jailed for three months.
Philip Daniel O’Kane, of Benevenagh Drive, Limavady, pleaded guilty to theft, common assault and indecent behaviour.
The charges relate to an incident in the Catherine Street area of the town on March 16.
Derry Magistrate’s Court heard the 58-year-old left a local supermarket without paying for hot food. O’Kane, who is known as a “local drinker” then went into a cafe a short distance away.
He grabbed the injured party by the arm twice and “squared up to her”.
The court was told the woman believed she was going to be assaulted by O’Kane.
The 58-year-old left the cafe and urinated over the passenger side of the injured party’s boyfriend’s car.
He was arrested by police a short time later.
A defence solicitor told the court her client doesn’t remember the incident at all.
She accepted O’Kane has a “significant record” which was related to his alcohol addiction over the last 30 years.
District Judge Barney McElholm jailed O’Kane for three months.
