The launch will take place at the borough’s fabulous Roe Valley Arts and Cultural Centre / Ionad Ealaíon agus Cultúir Ghleann na Ró where the app will be unveiled to the local tourism industry, tourism officials from councils, and regional and national tourism organisations.
The app will allow visitors to the area to access information in a new way! Explore, See, Do Limavady is a new experience available on Android and iPhone smartphones. Visitors can enjoy a free Treasure Trek, access information about Limavady’s activities and attractions and listen to a fantastic free Audio Trail called ‘Lore and Behold, Limavady!’ narrated by Dr. Bob Curran and BBC Presenter Sarah Travers.
Recently developed by Limavady Borough Council and Awakin Ltd., the ‘Limavady Explore, See, Do ...’ mobile phone app and podcast, which received investment from Arc North West under the Rural Development Programme, will immerse tourists in the wealth of history and folklore surrounding Limavady and local towns.
Council’s Tourism Development Officers praised the app, “The app represents a new way to enjoy one of the Causeway Coastal Route’s true gems. This innovative project will engage visitors, from near and far, to Explore, See, Do what the Borough of Limavady has to offer and lead users on a trail of discovery and enjoyment.”
The Mayor of Limavady, Cllr. Sean McGlinchey, welcomed the new development, he said: “The Rural Development Programme funding through Arc North West has given us a real opportunity to explore new ways to invite tourists to sample the great visitor facilities that we have to offer in Limavady Borough.
“Visitors can discover five fascinating points of interests around the Borough through Cushy’s Treasure Trek and listen to an audio interpretation about sites of historical significance. It’s a completely fresh product to promote Limavady to tourists!”
