Man admits robbery of pizza and hot food bag

A 22-year-old man has pleaded guilty to the robbery of a pizza and a hot food bag.

Dean Owen Hamilton McBride, whose address was given on court papers as Strand Road, admitted one charge of robbery.

He had initially denied the charge. However, after a jury had been sworn to try the case at Derry Crown Court McBride applied to be rearraigned.

The charge relates to an incident on January 3.

The court heard that McBride has a previous conviction for robbery.

The robbery in January was committed while he was out on licence.

Sentencing was adjourned by Judge Philip Babington for a probation pre-sentence report to be prepared.

McBride was remanded in custody and will appear in court again on January 5.
