A man who assaulted a cook in a local men’s hostel has received a suspended sentence.
Wesley George Gourley, with an address in Garmoyle Street, Belfast, pleaded guilty to common assault and indecent behaviour in August and September, last year.
Derry Magistrates Court heard the 47-year-old struck the woman twice on the face. The following day he told police he had been drunk, could not remember the incident but felt guilty about it.
District Judge Barney McElholm suspended a four month sentence for two years.
