Man charged with the attempted murder of an off-duty police officer
A 33-year-old man has appeared in court accused of the attempted murder of an off-duty police officer in Eglinton in 2015.
Kieran Maguire, of Kippure Park, Dublin, is charged with the attempted murder of the off-duty officer on June 18, 2015.
He is further charged with possessing explosives, namely an under vehicle improvised explosive device, with intent to endanger life.
A warrant for the arrest of 33-year-old Maguire had beeen issued in March 2017.
An investigating officer told Derry Magistrate’s Court he believed he could connect the defendant to the charges.
There was no application for bail and Maguire was remanded in custody to appear in court again next month.
