A Co. Derry man who drove at 125mph on a motorway because he needed to use the toilet urgently has been disqualified.
James Maitland (29), of Clagan Cottages, Claudy, admitted speeding on June 4.
Antrim Magistrate’s Court heard that police caught the defendant driving at 125mph.
A defence solicitor told the court the 29-year-old accepted he had been a ridiculous speed.
The solicitor added: ‘He had been to Tandragee and was coming back up the motorway and needed to go to the toilet very, very urgently’.
District Judge Alan White banned Maitland from driving for four months and fined him £200.
He also ordered the defendant to pay a £15 offender levy.
