A 51 year old man is expected to appear before Derry Magistrate’s Court later this month charged with damaging the city’s historic Walls.

The man will appear on March 19 to face charges of criminal damage, failing to answer bail as soon as reasonably practicable, damaging a historic monument, unauthorised works to a scheduled monument and possessing an article with intent to damage property.

The charges relate to an incident on the city Walls on February 1 when dissident republican slogans were daubed on the ramparts.

Two other men have already appeared in court in connection with the incident.
