Man tied to bed during Claudy robbery

Police are appealing for information after a man was tied to a bed and assaulted during an attempted armed robbery on the outskirts of Derry.

A PSNI spokeswoman said a woman, a six year old boy and a seven year old girl were present during the attempted robbery which took place at a house in the Muldonagh Road area of Claudy shortly before 9pm last night ( March 24).

“Shortly before 9pm on Thursday, 24 March, four masked men called to a house and gained entry,” the spokeswoman says.

“The male householder returned home and was confronted by the males who demanded money. The householder was tied to a bed and assaulted before the males made off empty handed in a silver Ford Mondeo car.

“It is believed that two of the males had firearms in their possession.

“A female and two children (six year old boy and seven year old girl) were also present in the house.”

Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the men entering or leaving the house or has information in relation to the silver Mondeo car to contact them on 0845 600 8000 or via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111
