Mum and daughter injured in Benone hit and run

Police in Limavady are appealing for information following a hit and run RTC on Benone Beach on Sunday 21 July.

Shortly before 1pm it was reported that a red coloured BMW collided with an adult female and a young girl on the beach.The Journal understands the mum and young daughter were visiting from the Newtownabbey area. Both were taken to hospital for treatment for their injuries that are not believed to be life threatening.

Following a seach of the surrounding area, using the PSNI helicopter, police discovered the car a short time later on the Baranault Road and a 30 year old male has been arrested on suspicion of a number of road traffic offences. He is currently in custody assisting police with their enquiries.
