A 31 year-old man wept in court as he was charged with the murder of James Christopher McGaughey at the weekend.
James Anthony Healy, of 58 Hollymount Park, kept his head bowed throughout a brief appearance at Derry Magistrate’s Court today ( Nov 2).
He was charged with the murder of Mr McGaughey on October 30 and further charged with the possession of two large knives.
When asked if he understood the charges, the 31 year-old nodded his head.
A Detective Sergeant told the court she believed she could connect Healy to the charges.
A defence solicitor revealed there would be no bail application. Healy was remanded in custody to appear before the court again, via videolink, on November 24.
